Kevin Horne, 14, of Whiteville isn’t into ordinary science projects.

The Central Middle School eighth grader was pretty fascinated with an extra tall bicycle a family friend, Darryl Brown, of North Whiteville, kept in his barn.

“He made one when he was little just for the fun of it,” Kevin said, pointing out that Darryl challenged him to try to ride the bike. Kevin ended up taking the six-foot-plus tall contraption home with him.

It became the blueprint for his very own super tall bicycle that he made as a science project and showed off in the Columbus County Fair Parade in Whiteville this year. Source: News Reporter
